I refuse to dumb myself down. My self worth won’t plummet in your presence. I’ll resist shrinking for you; feeling less beautiful, talented, or intelligent than I know myself to be. I can’t hide my truth to cover for your lies. I will not become a lesser version of myself for your benefit. You have no say in how much joy fills my heart. My kindness won’t disappear in the face of your bitterness. I am not affected by your disposition. You hold no power here, in my world, my dear. However, I will wish you peace, love, success, comfort, and joy in everything that you do.
